In 2025, the Cyber Security Report captures a landscape in which pressure from cyber threats is intensifying: DDoS attacks are becoming more concentrated and increasingly aimed at sensitive targets (46% of the events affecting businesses and institutions in Italy are aimed at the Government sector), ransomware is accelerating, malware campaigns are spreading on a global scale, and vulnerabilities are taking on growing strategic significance (more than 50% of attributed exploitation activity appears to be state-sponsored).
In this scenario, artificial intelligence is emerging as a key driver of transformation, capable of amplifying the speed and scale of certain threats, while also strengthening defence and analytical tools.
Produced by TIM and the Cyber Security Foundation, with contributions from Centro Studi TIM, the Cyber Security Report is based on evidence gathered by the TIM Group’s defence teams and, in this edition, is further enriched by insights from Insikt Group, Recorded Future’s threat intelligence unit, providing a broader perspective on how cyber risk is evolving at the international level.
