Ericsson Mobility Report June 2026

11/03/2026 - 03:00 PM

The June 2026 edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report examines the mobile market as it enters a more mature phase of 5G development. Subscriptions have exceeded 3 billion globally, while Fixed Wireless Access is also strengthening its role in the ecosystem, with 71% of FWA providers now offering 5G-based services. Growth in digital consumption and the spread of applications with more demanding performance requirements are reshaping expectations of network performance and capabilities. Against this backdrop, the report gives particular attention to differentiated connectivity, namely services capable of providing quality and performance levels tailored to the needs of specific applications and users, creating new opportunities to unlock value from 5G. Further insights concern the growing demand for uplink capacity, driven by distributed artificial intelligence and extended reality devices, while in Europe the gradual phasing out of legacy networks is supporting the transition to more efficient mobile infrastructure. A decisive shift is thus emerging: 5G is no longer merely a coverage technology, but a platform for delivering value-added services with differentiated and guaranteed performance levels.
