Pietro Labriola

Who is Pietro Labriola, the CEO of the TIM Group

Profile

01/01/2023 - 10:00 AM

Dedicated, enthusiastic, ready to listen: these characteristics describe Pietro Labriola, the new CEO of the TIM Group, appointed by the Board of Directors on 21 January 2022 (by unanimous decision).

An undisputed expert in telecommunications at an international level, Pietro Labriola joined the TIM Group in 2001 with strong knowledge from his experience at France Telecom, Cable&Wireless, Boston Consulting Group and Infostrada.

He has contributed significantly to TIM's growth for more than 20 years.

In Italy, he has been instrumental in launching new services for landline and mobile telephony and ICT, including for professionals and businesses, and has been at the forefront of business transformation developments.

Starting in 2015, he led TIM in Brazil as COO and then as CEO starting in 2019, driving its growth by reinforcing the pursuit of development with the acquisition of Oi and 5G licences, providing a crucial contribution to the digital development of one of the most vital countries. Labriola's time in Brazil is a key part of his professional experience, and he will continue to guide the future of TIM Brasil alongside his appointment as head of the Group.

Starting each day early and finishing late, he is driven by his competitiveness and his resolute approach to work, while his deep commitment to sport helps him keep a clear head and focus on his goals. He confronts challenges with courage and passion, never neglecting the smaller details and always basing his decisions on solid foundations. Open and always willing to talk and engage, he is a strong advocate of teamwork, and indeed since his return to Italy, the word “together” has been at the heart of the dialogue he has begun with all of the Group employees.

In 2021, Forbes named him one of Brazil's top business leaders, he won the Marechal Rondon Communications Award from Brazil's Ministry of Communications, and Institutional Investor named him Latin America's Best CEO in Technology, Media and Telecom. In 2020, he was also named Man of Communications of the Year by Aberimest Brasil, the Brazilian association of companies in the sector. He received the Ordem do Rio Branco honour from Brazil, awarded by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the important role TIM played in strengthening ties between the two nations.

He is a member of the board of GSMA, the organisation that unites mobile network operators worldwide, and a member of the General Council of Confindustria.

His appointment as CEO of the TIM Group follows his appointment as General Manager on 26 November 2021, a period during which he has entered into open and timely dialogue with all of the Group's internal and external stakeholders, paving the way to a new chapter in TIM’s history.
