Smart City Challenge

TIM launches the Smart City Challenge

For the digital transformation of cities

10/31/2022 - 03:50 PM

The TIM Smart City Challenge is promoted by TIM, which has involved top-level partners such as the Osservatorio Bikeconomy Association, the CNR Department of Engineering, ICT and Technology for Energy and Transport (DIITET), the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, Osservatorio Bikeconomy, the Startup Intelligence Observatory of Politecnico di Milano. In fact, this initiative also aims to start a virtuous circle of sharing skills, experiences and technologies at the highest level, which can facilitate the digitalisation of Italy.

The challenge concerns, in particular, analytics and video analytics systems based on big data and artificial intelligence, traffic improvement and parking management, waste collection monitoring, energy efficiency and intelligent building management.

As part of the TIM Smart City Challenge, TIM will provide TIM Urban Genius, TIM Enterprise's urban intelligence platform, a system that collects, processes and correlates data, generating information about the area to support decision-making processes.
It is a true virtual control room, equipped with the best digital technologies, which implements a sustainable smart city model, already successfully adopted in several cities, among which, for example, is Venice, with its Smart Control Room project, whose strength lies in the ability to monitor and optimise the city's security and services.

The challenge is aimed at young companies that have been established for at least one year and are less than 15 years old. The proposals submitted for the TIM Smart City Challenge will be evaluated and selected by technical juries. The best innovative solutions will be rewarded with industrial, commercial or scientific collaborations with the challenge partners.
The prize, provided by TIM, includes an industrial collaboration that will allow the selected solutions to be tested in one or more Italian municipalities.
