#LaParitàNonPuòAspettare (#EqualityCannotWait) because building a fairer and more equitable society is an urgent, necessary and achievable goal that creates value for the whole community. This is why TIM is firmly committed to supporting and accelerating gender equality. We do this with projects and initiatives aimed at our people and society, such as Women Plus, the first app that makes it easier for women in Italy to see what jobs are available. The launch took place today as part of 4 Weeks 4 Inclusion, the marathon event conceived and promoted by TIM focusing on inclusion.
According to ISTAT data, only 55.2% of employed women in Italy have children, and 56% of NEETs (not in education, employment, or training) are women. On the education front, only 16% of girls choose university courses in STEM subjects. This is an alarming situation that puts us at the bottom of the world rankings on gender equality and must be addressed.
Women Plus was born from the experience of Mulheres Positivas, conceived and implemented by entrepreneur Fabi Saad together with TIM Brasil. The goal of the new app is to provide real support to developing the role of women in the economy, guiding them in the orientation of their career path and giving them the opportunity to get the training they need to meet the needs of the labour market, with tools that will match their CVs to available jobs but also through mentoring, training and motivational talks.
Women Plus received the patronage of the European Commission Representation in Italy, with the full support of EU Equality Commissioner Helena Dalli, who sent a video message during the launch event. Another supporter of the app is Antonella Questa, actress and activist on gender equality issues, and Freeda the media company focused on telling true stories dedicated to women and the new generations.
The app, created by Women at Business, is available from today on the main app stores (iOS and Android).
