Telecom Italia Official sponsor of the 49th Venice Biennale International Exhibition

06/07/2001 - 12:00 PM

For the first time ever, Telecom Italia is the official sponsor of the Venice Biennale International Exhibition of Art. This event reunites the worlds or art and culture within the enchanting backdrop of the Giardini di Castello and the Arsenale della Citta dei Dogi.

For a period of five months, from 10 June to 4 November, Telecom Italia will participate in this event with a stand created by "Studio Azzurro", an experimental artistic and video production centre. By melding electronic imagery with the surrounding environment, the Telecom Italia stand will create an artistic space where the spectator is also the participant.

Communications eliminate distance and open infinite possibilities for interaction. The Telecom Italia stand at the international celebration of visual arts in Venice seeks to capture this concept with a fusion of technology, space and imagery. Visitors to the stand will see a sequence of symbolic images referring to the activities of the various companies in the Telecom Italia Group. The intention is to give the visitor the sensation of being physically transported from one image to another. The Telecom Italia Group is once again playing an active and leading role in a world renowned exhibition. The Venice Biennale involves 65 countries and more than 300 works by international artists.

Telecom Italia has provided the various venues of the Venice Biennale with telephone links, data transmission systems, and broadband connections. It has also completed the cable links between the various centres of the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts (ASAC), the Giardini dell´Arsenale, Palazzo Querini, Palazzo del Cinema and the Casinò.
