Normale di Pisa - Telecom Italia: new agreement to run summer orientation courses

Italy's top 500 students invited to stay at five special summer campuses; for the first time, a further 1,500 students will be able to follow the course on the web

04/20/2009 - 03:00 PM

The Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and Telecom Italia renew their collaboration to run summer courses for a selection of Italy's most accomplished students in their last year of high school and this year, for the first time, students will also be able to follow the course on the web. The agreement for the courses was signed this morning by School Director Salvatore Settis and Telecom Italia CEO Franco Bernabè.

Once again this year, between the end of June and mid-September, the top 500 students on the over 2,000-strong special merit roll drawn up by Italy’s high school headmasters - also abroad -  will be spending a week on campus at Cortona, Colle Val d’Elsa, San Miniato, Rovereto and Camigliatello Silano. During their stay, students will be able to attend lessons and meet-ups with scientists, professors of literature, economists, artists and professionals. Each event gives students a chance to obtain first-hand knowledge about the careers of these high-fliers, savour the atmosphere of high-level culture and research, and get a better idea about what they want to study at university.

Furthermore this year the technology platform supplied by Telecom Italia will enable around 1,500 other students on the merit roll, who are not going to stay on campus, to follow the course on the web.

This agreement confirms the Scuola Normale di Pisa and Telecom Italia's joint commitment to fostering and developing Italy's finest young minds.
