Telecom Italia has won the international tender to develop the 2011-2015 Technology Plan for the network of Telekomsel, the main mobile operator in and seventh worldwide with around 90 million customers.
The tender involved leading European Telecommunication players such as France Telecom (with Sofrecom) and Deutsche Telekom (with Detecon). Franco Bernabè, CEO of Telecom Italia, said: “This success is an important acknowledgement of our ability to manage the technology, and lays the foundation to expand the Group’s international presence through the enhancement of our know-how in the emerging markets.”
The project aims to define the 2011-2015 Technology Plan in coherence with Telekomsel’s business strategy. Specifically, the activity’s objective is to provide the guidelines to develop all the technological layers related to the network infrastructure (radio access, core network, transportation network, etc.), the service platforms, including customer care and information support systems, showing the impact on investments and on costs over a 5-year period.
The impact of the Technology Plan on the organisational aspects of Telkomsel will also be analysed, in order to define the guidelines for further development plans.
