The City of Genoa and Telecom Italia have begun testing the electronic bracelet-based remote assistance service. The goal of this initiative is to provide greater security through technologically advanced solutions to individuals such as senior citizens, women, children and tourists.

The testing stage, lasting three months, will involve 35 individuals selected by the City of Genoa, who will receive a small, easy to use radio bracelet to be worn when leaving home. Thanks to the technologically advanced platform provided by Telecom Italia, based on GPS for location fucntionality and on GSM/GPRS for telephony and data transmission, wearers may be located at any time and, at the press of a button, may make an emergency call to their families or to a specialized service center that is operational 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

This initiative confirms Telecom Italia’s commitment to developing and promoting innovative solutions for local Public Administrations that, through the use of the most advanced technology available, contribute to improving the quality of citizens’ daily lives.
