Starting today, 4th generation iPad and iPad mini owners can enable their tablet to connect via the high-performance TIM LTE network.
4G technology offers TIM customers 5-10 times higher speed compared to the HSPA network at 14.4 Mbps and more than double that offered by HSPA at 42 Mbps.
TIM "ULTRA Internet 4G" services, for both consumer and business customers, are already available in 30 Italian cities: Rome, Naples, Turin, Milan, Ancona, Brindisi, Catanzaro, Forli, Genoa, Padua, Palermo, Trento, Taranto, Treviso, Perugia, Pisa, Prato, Vicenza, Bari, Udine, Como, Bormio, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Courmayeur , Selva di Val Gardena, Madonna di Campiglio, Cavalese, Predazzo, Canazei and Tesero.
An LTE product and a dedicated offer are needed to access the TIM 4G network, without having to replace the SIM. To enable Apple products for the LTE network (4th generation iPad, iPad Mini and iPhone 5) the OS also needs to be updated.
Starting from 4 February the TIM offer portfolio will also include an important added service thanks to the launch of the "ULTRA Internet 4G" plans dedicated to Smartphones, including iPhone5, in addition to those already available for USB keys and tablets.
In particular, all prepaid customers who purchase a new TIM 4G Smartphone will have a month of free internet on the LTE network. Customers interested in subscription plans including Smartphones will be able to choose from:
4 Tutto Smartphone 4G, from €25/month with 2GB Ultra Internet 4G, calls at 9 cents per minute and TIM Cloud with 200GB
4 Tutto Compreso (All Inclusive) with Opzione Internet 4G (Internet Option). Opzione Internet 4G can be added to the Tutto Compreso plans for €15/month, to have an additional 1GB of internet and connection via the LTE network. Even in this case TIM Cloud is included with 200GB.
As of 4 February, the following 4G Smartphones will also be included in the catalogue in addition to the iPhone5:
