TIMvision's decoder with the Android TV operating system is here. Created in collaboration with Google, the new TIMvision set-top box will be available from today for all TIM customers who want to experience digital entertainment in a new and simple way. The decoder, presented in Milan at TIM Space, interprets the evolution of the Internet TV which provides direct access to very high quality on-demand television content and that found on the web from any type of TV, creating a new "viewing" experience for the viewer.

With the new decoder, TV sets become an open platform for TIM on-demand TV and other Web content. For customers the new generation set-top box represents the new technological enabler for direct access to video content and the main Android TV apps, with news, films and games available on Google Play, made for TV and already enabled on their mobile devices.
The TIMvision decoder introduces new functions and expands the range of services: it is in fact 4K-ready, for viewing Ultra HD content, and has the best Wi-Fi connectivity for video streaming (5GHz 802.11ac dual band), integrated terrestrial digital (standard DVBT2) and the latest generation processor to ensure smooth browsing, plus Google Cast to use entertainment apps enabled for Android, iOS, Windows and Mac devices with Chrome on the TV screen too. Furthermore, the Google Photo app, also available for iOS, allows you to view images on your smartphone or tablet on the big screen.
The set-top box comes with an infra-red remote control and Bluetooth 4.1 with a microphone to allow maximum freedom of use and voice searching of programmes and news. Just say the title of the news item or content you wish to watch and all the results will appear directly on the screen (Apps, content, TV programmes).
TIMvision has also updated the content-focused graphic interface to allow easier and more intuitive browsing, based on customer preferences and providing direct access to your favourite digital terrestrial channels.
TIMvision continues to invest in high quality content to further update its catalogue with the best productions of Italian cinema and TV series, documentaries and major live events, thanks to agreements with principal major international companies such as Fox, Paramount and MGM. Additionally, the recent agreement with NBCUniversal provides TIMvision subscribers with access to successful titles from Universal Pictures ranging from "Notting Hill" to collections by greats such as Alfred Hitchcock. And every month, new complete cult series and content with the characters most loved by children, such as “Alvin” and “Angry Birds”, to the protagonists of “The Next Step”. For young people, TIMvision provides on-demand programming with the best Japanese productions, as well as many other successful titles.
The TIMvision set-top box, with its distinctive truncated cone shape and small size, will be offered on promotion at 2 euros per month for new TIM Smart customers. From 18 July the decoder will also be on sale at 109 euros directly on the website tim.it. Thereafter the new decoder will also be available to customers who have already chosen TIMvision.
The initiative is part of TIM’s strategy to disseminate innovative services and confirms our role as a technological enabler, with the aim of bringing customers increasingly into touch with good quality streamed content and the new ways of enjoying it made possible by its ultrabroadband networks.
