TIM has joined forces with Italian Universities to support e-learning. The Group has signed over 20 agreements with Italy’s leading universities to ensure e-learning with the aim of facilitating students and their families in the use of the courses and digital services offered by the Universities. The project responds to the need to limit travel in light of the COVID-19 emergency, ensuring students the right to study by supporting online education.

The agreements, more of which are expected to follow in the months ahead, consist of TIM supplying universities, under favourable conditions, with more than 200,000 SIMS with differentiated (gigabit) data profiles and the hire of as many LTE/WiFi modems which Universities will allocate free of charge to students also on the basis of income or regularity in their study courses.

Among the leading universities joining the initiative are: Università del Piemonte Orientale, Università degli Studi di Torino, Università di Genova, Università degli Studi dell’Insubria, Università degli Studi di Pavia, Università degli Studi di Padova, Università Iuav di Venezia, Università degli Studi di Udine, Università degli Studi di Ferrara, Università degli Studi di Parma, Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Università di Bologna, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Sapienza Università di Roma, Università degli Studi del Sannio, Università degli Studi di Salerno, Università della Basilicata, Università della Calabria, Università degli Studi Magna Graecia di Catanzaro e Università degli Studi di Palermo. The initiative is also joined by the Regional Agency for the Right to University Study of Basilicata and the Magna Graecia University Foundation of Catanzaro.

Based on the different needs of the universities, TIM has announced it is willing to distribute the SIMs and relative modems through its shops located in the respective regions or by home delivery throughout Italy and in Europe.

The initiative confirms TIM's commitment to support the country at this delicate time and, in particular, the academic and research world. For some time now TIM has entered into important projects and collaborations with leading universities in order to support technological research and new talents. Along with around 30 partners of excellence, TIM also promotes development of the digital culture and skills through the Operazione Risorgimento Digitale programme with the goal of bridging the digital divide in society.
