TIM for Climate Change

TIM gets positive rating for continued focus on climate change

01/21/2020 - 05:45 PM

TIM has this year retained its prominent rating in the CDP assessment (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), the global non-profit focused on environmental impact that manages the leading platform for assessing the performance of companies in the fight against climate change. TIM attained a "B" rating for 2019, against a European and global industry average that fell to "C".

The result achieved by TIM is testament to its high level of transparency and focus on risks and opportunities relating to climate change, which translates into real action to manage physical and transitional impacts of climate change.

TIM's commitment to investors and stakeholders in dealing with the challenge posed by climate change is demonstrated by its desire to integrate environmental sustainability targets into its business plan and to consider the environment in its programme to create shared value with the communities in which it operates. The challenge for TIM is to constantly improve its score by including appropriate governance policies and increasingly targeted actions in its current best practices.

Further information on Carbon Disclosure Project

CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) is an organisation that helps to spread awareness of the environmental impact of large companies.

It aims to steer them towards a sustainable economy, by analysing their awareness of the risks and opportunities of climate change and assessing the level of actions that companies are taking, or could take, to help mitigate the global effects and impacts of climate change on their business.

Since 2002, more than 7,000 companies have publicly disclosed environmental information through CDP. CDP requests information on climate risks and low-carbon opportunities from the world's largest companies on behalf of more than 500 institutional investors, with combined assets of nearly $100 trillion. Since 2016, the survey has adopted an evaluation methodology based on four progressive levels from minimum level D to maximum level A.
