Mother’s Day is an opportunity to say thank you to our own mothers and to all those who look after others, every day, in different ways. It is also the perfect time to reflect on what it means today to be a parent and work at the same time.
This is not a story just about mothers. It is about parenthood, balance, choices and journeys that affect us all. It speaks of everyday life, made up of the interplay between life and work, between children, school, the unexpected and shared responsibilities.
And it speaks of what we are doing at TIM in practical terms, so that motherhood – and parenthood more generally – can coexist with professional growth and the opportunity to express one’s talent, at every stage of life.
With the BParent project, TIM has created a hub dedicated to parenting that now comprises 16 integrated initiatives. A programme designed to support every stage: from the desire to become a parent, through birth and raising children, right up to returning to work. This commitment has also been recognised by the Ministry for the Family, which awarded TIM the Riparto grant.
Some figures on the project:
- Over 120 new children welcomed in the last year
- €1,300 ‘Baby Package’ voucher for every birth or adoption
- Remote working 5 days a week until the child’s first birthday
- 10 + 10 days’ paternity leave
- 6 months of dedicated mentoring for returning to work
- 4 free counselling sessions
And when you return to the office, you shouldn’t have to start from scratch.
25% of mothers under 35 (1 in 4) leave their jobs within the first year of their child’s birth (source: Save the Children, 11th edition of the report ‘Le Equilibriste – Motherhood in Italy 2026’). One of the most common concerns is returning to work: coming back and no longer feeling at home.
That’s why we’ve developed tools specifically for this transition:
- Professional Channel: Professional Channel: an optional channel to stay in touch during maternity leave, with no operational obligations
- Back to Work Mentorship:a support programme during the first six months after returning, with TIM mentors trained to assist with reintegration
Skills that grow alongside parenthood
Empathy, active listening, prioritisation, resilience: becoming a parent means developing skills that also strengthen your career path through initiatives such as:
- Genitori in crescita, online courses for parents with children aged 0 to 26
- Genitori Oggi, ducational sessions with experts on communication, life choices and financial literacy
A community that fosters connections and genuine support
We have also set up the “Genitori in TIM” community, an informal space where colleagues can exchange views, share experiences and build a genuine support network amongst themselves.
In the coming months, we will also be launching training programmes dedicated to gender bias and parenting roles, to continue building an increasingly inclusive and people-focused working environment. Because #LaParitàNonPuòAspettare (EqualityCantWait).
