La scuola di TIM

The TIM School

Infrastructures and services for the future of young generations.

03/22/2023 - 10:50 AM

The digital transformation of schools is one of the TIM Group's priorities, but it is also a challenge to be taken up quickly in order to guarantee the younger generations opportunities in line with the rest of Europe.
The gradual introduction of digital technology in schools has given rise to a new, more inclusive school environment, where learning ranges from electronic textbooks to tablets, projectors, interactive displays, as well as content management software and immersive augmented and virtual reality environments.

Obviously underpinning this transformation is the spread of increasingly secure and faster connections;   5,671 schools connected by TIM in the Tuscany, Veneto, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise and Apulia regions are included in the two lots of Infratel tenders that TIM was awarded. Since May 2021, approximately 10 schools per day have been connected, providing Internet access at speeds of up to 1 Gbit per second. At the same pace during the course of the year, the coverage of schools in Piedmont, Liguria, Valle d'Aosta, Tuscany, Lazio, Campania, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia, subject of a second award to TIM, is linked to the NRRP measures for the development of Ultralarge Bandwidth.

Not just infrastructure but also services are offered in TIM's digital school with ready-to-use or custom-developed solutions with a strong focus on IT security, a topic on which we also offer training to school staff.

Speaking of training, TIM Academy, a training organisation accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education as a qualified entity for the training of school personnel pursuant to Italian Ministerial Decree 170/2016, provides dedicated training solutions for teachers and students to guide them in their transition to digital technology. TIM Academy also distributes digital school textbooks through its e-commerce portal TIM Scuolabook, where it is also possible to use the Carta Docente (Teacher Card) for professional training.

We are strongly committed to overcoming the geographic digital divide to bring fixed and mobile ultrabroadband to the entire country and to spread digital skills to all segments of the population and in different areas.
Follow us the next weeks to discover some of the schools we have guided through the digital transformation and what opportunities teachers and students have enjoyed thanks to digital technology.
