With CDP Venture Capital for italian innovation

We accelerate the growth of startups and innovative SMEs in strategic areas that drive digital sovereignty.

At TIM, we work to turn innovation into tangible solutions: internally, by strengthening processes, skills, and execution capabilities, and externally, by developing solutions for our customers and collaborating with startups, SMEs, and partners to support their growth. This vision underpins our partnership with CDP Venture Capital, signed at the TIM Innovation Lab in Rome by our CEO Pietro Labriola together with Emanuele Levi, CEO and General Manager of CDP Venture Capital.

The collaboration aims to develop and bring italian digital technologies to market, transforming the most promising Startups into solid companies capable of operating in the country’s critical systems and competing on an international level.

Activities will focus on strategic areas such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud, Smart Cities, Smart Infrastructure, defense, and new digital services. In these sectors, TIM and CDP Venture Capital will combine industrial expertise, technological capabilities, and financial resources, selecting the most promising ventures both within CDP Venture Capital’s portfolio and through targeted scouting activities. Solutions will be tested with our teams, adapted to operational contexts, and applied in real-world scenarios, including critical domains.

Throughout this journey, we will provide strategic assets to support their development, including infrastructure, technological capabilities, and direct knowledge of the needs of businesses and the Public Administration. The TIM Open Innovation team will work alongside them: we will assist startups in entering the market, connect them with enterprise customers and public institutions, and guide their growth by integrating industrial development and access to capital.

Some collaborations are already underway. Cubbit is working on a geo-distributed cloud storage model, while CAEmate is developing Digital Twin-based solutions to support predictive maintenance of infrastructure. These are the first examples of an approach aimed at bringing italian technologies to real-world use cases and guiding them through structured growth paths.
