Telecom Italia: Italian and European Leadership reconfirmed for the best Corporate Online Communication

Leading position among nearly 1,000 companies analysed globally in the 2012 KWD Webranking report

For the second consecutive year, Telecom Italia has won the KWD Webranking in Italy and Europe. The ranking has been analysing and assessing the quality of online financial and institutional communication for the last sixteen years.

With 87.5 points out of 100 maximum assignable nationwide Telecom Italia has positioned itself ahead of the multi-utility company Hera from Bologna (85.8 points) and the energy company ENI (83.5 points).  Telecom Italia and ENI remain at the top of the European ranking, followed by the Swedish group SCA (78.3 points). Significant the gap from the Italian and European average  values, respectively 32.5 and 39.3 points.

Telecom Italia has been especially appreciated for the restyling of its website telecomitalia.com in Responsive Web Design mode. The first company in Italy to start this technological evolution, in August 2012 Telecom provided an upgraded Group portal which is able to recognize and automatically adapt to the device used whether desktop, tablet or smart phone.

The 2012 edition of the ranking, carried out by KW Digital (digital division of Hallvarsson & Halvarsson), in collaboration with Lundquist, analysed the English version of corporate websites of the largest companies by market capitalization on the basis of 100 criteria and 325 sub-criteria.

The area dedicated to financial information still remains the most important, with a weight of 41% of the total, although this year the protocol has undergone a massive change, especially for the amount allocated to social media (13.5% of criteria compared with 5% in 2011), confirming that these tools are an increasingly fundamental part in the communication strategy of companies.

This represents a very important result for Telecom Italia, in addition to its second place in Italy and Europe for online communication of Employer Branding and Sustainability in the 2012 Lundquist Online Awards rankings, confirming the company's commitment to excellence and transparency in communication and the increasingly broader and more integrated use of web presence and social media to share their activities and enhance brand reputation.
