On the National Day of Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles, we at TIM are also joining the 22nd edition of M’Illumino di Meno, the campaign promoted by Rai Radio2 Caterpillar to raise awareness among citizens and businesses about the responsible use of resources.
Today, February 16, we will symbolically switch off the lights in our main offices in Rome and Milan, and we have involved around 17,000 colleagues in an internal contest, inviting them to adopt more conscious behaviors in managing energy and daily consumption—and to share them with us, in words or through an image. We also wanted to engage our customers, who in recent days received an SMS inviting them to take part in the initiative personally, helping to spread a shared culture of sustainability.
Participating in M’Illumino di Meno is a simple gesture yet fully aligned with our idea of sustainability: a concrete responsibility that guides our industrial, technological, and organizational choices. We work to make our infrastructure more efficient, reduce emissions and consumption, develop talent, promote gender equality, strengthen cybersecurity, and support the digital evolution of the Country.
A concrete example of this pathway is the project currently underway in Rozzano, where the heat generated by a Data Center is recovered and used for the district heating of around 5,000 homes in the ALER neighborhood. The initiative generates a benefit for the community in terms of avoided emissions — approximately 3,500 tons of CO₂ per year — thanks to the reduction in gas consumption and other fossil fuels.
Alongside the environmental dimension, we also carry forward a strong social commitment, with initiatives aimed at closing the gender gap under the umbrella of the #LaParitàNonPuòAspettare campaign. And our sustainability efforts also include the digital sphere: with the #RompiLaBolla project, developed together with the Osservatorio for Independent Thinking, we promote digital education programs in schools to strengthen critical thinking and awareness in the use of media and social networks.
Today—and every day—we choose to consume less and more responsibly. Let’s do it together, because every small change can become a habit capable of making a real difference.
