Secure Microchip

Telsy's Italian-made solution for cybersecurity

Innovation and security, a winning combination

12/14/2023 - 12:30 PM

An all-Italian solution produced in-house at TIM by Telsy for TIM Enterprise.
We are talking about Secure Microchip, the first cryptographic microprocessor designed entirely in Italy and manufactured by a European supply chain, in collaboration with a number of companies in the sector.
It represents an innovative technological solution in the field of cybersecurity as it will, in fact, raise the level of security in various technological domains, from mobile devices to Smart Cities, from cloud infrastructures to the Internet of Things (IoT) and down to defence systems.

The new microchip, developed to meet the most advanced 'security by design' requirements, takes the form of a 'security atom' (Root of Trust) that enables the protection of sensitive or confidential information in the IT or communication systems we all use on a daily basis.
Today, cybersecurity is a major issue since we all frequently perform a number of online activities with access to sensitive or confidential data such as home banking, booking of healthcare appointments and online shopping. Moreover, as cyber attacks increase in quantity and quality, the security of devices, data and communications exchanged between companies, institutions and private citizens is constantly put to the test.

Secure Microchip can be used not only in civil, military, industrial and critical infrastructure such as railway tracks, power and water grids and dams, but also in the Internet of Things contexts now increasingly common in Smart Cities.
In the industrial field, Secure Microchip secures the dialogue between devices, integrating a sophisticated cryptographic system with the most advanced cybersecurity features.

In addition to offering businesses and organisations an innovative cybersecurity solution, the new microchip is also a tool to comply with the increasingly stringent cybersecurity requirements under the new European regulatory framework (CyberResilienceAct, NIS2 Directive and ERC) to strengthen the overall level of cybersecurity of EU citizens and organisations.

The first 'Italian-made' microchip was designed by a group of Italian engineers from Telsy, the TIM Group company operating in the field of crypto and cyber security within TIM Enterprise.
