In Milan, before an audience of over 280 teachers, the President of the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani – Editori (Permanent Watchdog for Young People and Publishers) Andrea Ceccherini, the Chairman of Telecom Italia Gabriele Galateri di Genola and “Corriere della Sera” leader writer Beppe Severgnini presented the national project “scuolachefarete.it – Docenti insieme: per informare, formare, partecipare” (Teachers together for information, training, participation) created to provide all the teachers taking part in the initiative “The Newspaper in Class” and, more generally, any Italian teach, with the opportunity to utilise a new information and didactic tool to share news and experience, in an intuitive and dynamic way.
The Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori (Permanent Watchdog for Young People and Publishers) and Telecom Italia agree on the importance of this initiative and have joined their respective skills to offer teachers a valid digital education tool to contribute to scholastic information and training.
Gabriele Galateri di Genola said: “Digital culture is a fundamental resource for the modern world, both for collective development and for individual freedom, growth and individual wellbeing. Telecom Italia is committed to developing state of the art infrastructures and services as well as to cooperating with everyone who wishes to help disseminate this culture, and therefore also the teaching sector. Italy needs good schools and skilled teachers in order to train and educate the new generations who live in the digital era. This task is not easy, and today requires considerable skills regarding the new technologies, their potentials and the ways of sharing them. Telecom Italia and the Permanent Watchdog for Young People and Publishers have thus decided to support Italian teachers in educating young people on digital citizenship through the website scuolachefarete.it.”
The website scuolachefarete.it – said Andrea Ceccherini, President of the Permanent Watchdog for Young People and Publishers - targets all those Italian teachers who want to act: from communities and networks today to create together tomorrow’s schools.”

The website, consisting of three areas with access to all those who share the key values of the entire project, is an interactive tool enabling teachers to move on different levels, characterised by increasing involvement and commitment:
- The information level, with all the latest news, research and surveys on the schools sector. Reports, anecdotes, current events and experiences from the rest of the world, starting from the reading of newspapers, news and other information useful to ensure that users are always updated, to comment and share.
- The training level, with special columns on training paths, created and coordinated by skilled teaching and training personnel who will make their own experience available to created dedicated didactic material for teachers, as well as material on the priorities of the world of schools and the schools of the future.
- The participation level, with an area reserved for surveys, forums and web areas created in order to make this gateway a tool available to teachers to express their opinion and share it with lots of other teachers.
The main goal of the initiative is to create a great community in the world of teachers in Italy, to stimulate discussion with a view to improving the schools of the future.
“Networking” schools are schools that come together to learn and dialogue via the web, stimulating the growth of tomorrow’s scholastic education.
“Intelligent journalists are those who learn from their own readers – said Beppe Severgnini - and intelligent teachers are those who learn from their own students. Teachers must therefore let young people lead them in learning about the digital world in order to be able to guide them on this path. The intellectual humility of the teachers – concluded Severgnini – must stimulate them to enter into this type of culture.”
