TIM: 95% of homes covered independently with UBB by the end of 2019 No bids submitted in response to the second Infratel invitation to tender

A choice that is coherent with that already communicated to the Authorities, and announced in the three year Plan.

02/20/2017 - 03:50 PM

TIM has not submitted any bids in response to the second invitation to tender organised by Infratel for the creation and management of ultrabroadband infrastructure in the white areas of Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta, Liguria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Campania, Basilicata, Sicily and the Autonomous Province of Trento.

The company’s decision is in line with what it communicated to the Ministry of Economic Development and Infratel at the time.

In fact, TIM updated its investment plan at the end of 2016, planning to roll-out ultrabroadband network coverage selectively to some white areas of the Regions included in the Infratel tender process.

This choice was confirmed in the 2017-2019 Strategic Plan already presented by the company to the financial community too.

TIM will guarantee ultrabroadband service in fibre to 95% of homes by the end of 2019, increasing and accelerating its coverage plan.

TIM reaffirms its leadership in the development of infrastructure and the digitalisation of the Country, completing Ultrabroadband coverage independently, and rapidly, thanks to a combination of new fixed and wireless technologies that will enable greater efficiency and lower costs than in the past, exploiting the maximum re-utilisation of the infrastructure it owns.

Finally, TIM emphasises that the results of the tender process will have no operational or strategic impact for the company, and no effect on its market position.
