Great success of 4 Weeks 4 Inclusion: over 500,000 participants

Involving over 200 companies, representatives of institutions, the world of culture and entertainment, the special marathon held to spread the culture of inclusion across Italy ends today.

11/22/2021 - 03:30 PM

Over 500,000 people took part in the second 4 Weeks 4 Inclusion, the largest inter-company marathon held in Italy on diversity and inclusion ending today. Over 200 companies shared 189 digital events over the course of 4 consecutive weeks, creating eight events open to the public, broadcast live and on demand, with over 3.5 million views of the content produced, 212 hours of live coverage and thousands of social media interactions.

Hundreds of guests including the CEOs of Italy’s largest companies, government ministers, representatives of trade unions and civil society, artists, journalists, representatives of the world of culture and influencers.

These figures demonstrate the huge success of the initiative which, since 22 October, has supported an interdisciplinary debate aimed at promoting diversity, inspired by the message sent by senator Liliana Segre: “All of us have been excluded at least once. There is a clear line between the inside and the outside, between inclusion and exclusion. We need to overcome it, because to include means to complete, to add what is missing. By coming together as one, we break down barriers and stereotypes. And the light reveals all the colours for us to welcome diversity. Because perfection is the sum of our differences. To include means to unite. No one excluded. No one”.

The closing event of 4 Weeks 4 Inclusion, moderated by Monica D'Ascenzo (Il Sole 24 Ore) and Andrea Notarnicola (Newton), and available live and on demand on the 4w4i.it website, was an opportunity to look back at the most beautiful and exciting moments of these four weeks, with videos, double interviews, inspirational speeches, a final panel dedicated to the next 4W4I event, and ironic comments by “Susanna Dienai”, the imaginary Diversity & Inclusion Manager of the company Zzzoot.

The event was attended by the following representatives of partner companies: Carlo Albini, Head of People & Organization Innovability, Enel; Consuelo Battistelli, Diversity & Inclusion Manager, IBM; Gabriele Belsito, HR Director, Autogrill; Andrea Boldrin, HR Director, Decathlon; Cristina Danelatos, Director HR & Digital Innovation, Gruppo Montenegro; Doriana De Benedictis, Diversity & Inclusion

Leader, EY; Cristina Galbusera, People Development Manager, BNL; Mauro Ghilardi, People & Transformation Manager, A2A; Andrea Laudadio, Head of TIM Academy, Development & Recruiting; Marta Luca, Head of Human Capital Development and Diversity & Inclusion, Snam; Sonia Malaspina, HR Director Italy & Greece, Danone; Consuelo Mangifesta, External Relations Manager, Women’s Volleyball League; Rosanna Maserati, Diversity & Inclusion Manager, Crédit Agricole; Pino Mercuri, HR Director, Agos; Emilia Rio, People Organization and Change Manager, Terna; Patrizia Zambianchi, Head of Retail Lending, Deutsche Bank and Diversity & Inclusion Champion; Francesco Zuffo, HR Director, Burger King.

The 4 weeks 4 inclusion programme also included the first inter-company “Win4Inclusion” e-sport tournament: 12 teams from as many companies challenged each other with their smartphones and consoles on three games: FIFA22, Brawl Stars, Clash Royale. The three top-scoring teams were:

1)     TimVision

2)    Ferrovie dello Stato

3)    Ericsson

As required by the rules, the prizes of 2,000, 1,500 and 1,000 euros in shopping vouchers will be donated by the teams to three non-profit organisations named by them: “Locanda dei Girasoli” for TIM, “Associazione Telefono Rosa” for Ferrovie dello Stato and “Italian Red Cross” for Ericsson.

Sharing and promoting specific actions related to diversity in terms of gender, age, nationality and disability and a culture of inclusion at all levels and in all organisational contexts, will also be the mission of the third 4 Weeks 4 Inclusion scheduled for next year. The presence of different points of view has always been the driving force behind innovation which, in turn, generates more value. Inclusion therefore provides not only an opportunity to improve productivity and the working environment in companies, but also to spread the common good in society.

4 Weeks 4 Inclusion

The 4 Weeks 4 Inclusion (#4W4I) initiative was created by companies to raise awareness about the issues of inclusion and the development of diversity, thanks to a tightly-packed programme of shared events, webinars, digital labs and creative groups. Each year, guests and speakers switch places for four consecutive weeks, giving a concerted account of stories of inclusion and sharing best practices, models and tools for developing all kinds of diversity from disability, intergenerational debate and contributions from women to sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity and religion. Over 200 companies are taking part in the 2021 edition of 4 Weeks 4 Inclusion.
