Telecom Italia is partner of L'Italia dei Libri exhibition

The public will be able to see the latest developments in digital publishing, create and share metatexts and take part in online discussions on literature

Telecom Italia is a partner of the 1861-2011 L’Italia dei Libri exhibition, to be held on May 12 - 16 at the Oval exhibitio0n area in .

The exhibition, planned by the 2011 International Book Fair on the occasion of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the unification of , will retrace the history of in 15 stages – one for each decade – through the books and writers who helped shape it.

Thanks to the contribution of Telecom Italia, visitors to L’Italia dei Libri will also have the chance to fast-forward to the “sixteenth decade”.  After the 2010 edition, in which it made its debut in the digital publishing market, Telecom Italia returns to the International Book Fair, promoting a reflection on the new ways in which content is delivered and allowing visitors to see firsthand how and to what extent technology will revolutionize and enrich our relationship with literature and the world of publishing in the near future. In fact, it will be possible to read the digital versions of the 15 SuperBooks, the books considered the most representative of the 150 years of the Unity of Italy, on devices such as Biblet, TIM’s new ebook reader, Olivetti’s OliPad, the first Italian tablet, and Samsung’s new Galaxy S II smartphone, and access Biblet.it, the Telecom Italia store dedicated to the distribution of digitally published content. All visitors will be able to annotate and comment the texts and vote their favorite SuperBook, the most popular of which will be added to the selections of the curators of L’Italia dei libri as the sixteenth title of this ideal set. A touch screen will also enable visitors to see for themselves the full potential offered by the merging of literature with the web, and to share this experience with other visitors through projections that will bring the exhibition area to life.

Thanks to the advanced web communication platforms provided by Telecom Italia, the exhibition’s contents may also be enjoyed online on the www.telecomitalia.com web site.

At the end of the Book Fair, L’Italia dei Libri may be visited on the premises of the National Library in , and will evolve into a nationwide tour through several of ’s major cultural events.

This initiative is one of the activities through which Telecom Italia promotes culture and development in , and specifically aims to encourage the discussion on the various ways in which texts can be read.

With approximately 8,900 titles by over 170 publishers, biblet.it is one of ’s  best-stocked stores, confirming the soundness of this project through which Telecom Italia provides publishers with a privileged sales channel that is secure and legal, capable of facilitating the process of browsing, selection, purchasing, downloading and usage of the electronic cultural product through new-generation ebook readers.

To make browsing the catalog and  choosing digital titles easier, the public will be given the chance to try Biblet, TIM’s new ebook reader that allows users to browse Biblet.it for free and and to pay for ebooks with the credit on their SIM cards, Olivetti’s OliPad, the first Italian tablet, which, thanks to the 'Biblet App' can easily access the virtual store, and, on early display, the new Samsung Galaxy S II.
