The agreement between the Stevanato Group and Telecom Italia

The adoption of the most advanced computer technology through the Telecom Italia Cloud Computing platform enables the Veneto Group to improve performance and costs and be more competitive on the international group

12/28/2011 - 11:45 AM

Telecom Italia and the Stevanato Group at Piombino Dese (Padua), the leading company in producing glass pharmaceutical containers, has signed an agreement enabling the Veneto company to adopt advanced computer solutions that will improve performance and costs, thanks to the Nuvola Italiana (Italian Cloud) platform utilising modern Cloud Computing technologies and the Telecom Italia infrastructures for broadband. In particular, under the agreement the Stevanato Group will adopt solution involving the outsourcing of their computer systems in the Telecom Italia Data Centers, ensuring the management of data recovery and service continuity. The project also provides for the creation of an optical fibre link with very high transmission capacity, and the activation of a high definition video communications platform based on Cloud architecture designed to link the various facilities of the group.

The agreement responds to the Group’s need to ensure the quality and certification of its services on the overseas market and to consolidate the leadership position already acquired. To do this, they needed to overhaul their computer architecture, both hardware and software, providing a real time service recovery facility in case of system malfunction or failure, with total data recovery. The entire hardware infrastructure has been outsourced, and its management entrusted to specialised personnel in the Telecom Italia Data Centers. The geographical distribution of personnel, in relation to the need for efficiency and for the control of the entire production process, likewise requires high definition audio and video communication in real time. This has led to the acquisition of the “Nuvola It IntoucHD” service, one of the Cloud solutions offered by Telecom Italia.

The Stevanato Group has 1,350 employees in facilities ranging from the central headquarters in the Veneto Region, in Piombino Dese (Padua) to the other facilities located in Latina, in Bratislava (Slovakia), in Monterrey (Mexico) and shortly in China. In 2010 the company recorded sales totalling 174 million Euro, and is the world’s top producer of vials for insulin used in the treatment of diabetes. These results are also the result of a Quality Assurance policy applied in compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), which means safety for the consumer-patient.
