Ultra Internet has arrived in Bergamo, one of the first Italian cities chosen by Telecom Italia to launch its new optical fibre network services, allowing Internet connections to be used at home or at work with a download speed of 30 Mb/s.

As of today, private citizens and businesses can benefit from performance and service levels that dramatically improve the experience of surfing the net. At home they will be able to enjoy HD video, high quality multiplayer online gaming and multimedia content simultaneously available on smartphones, tablets and smart TVs, thanks to the new modem. Businesses can access the world of Impresa Semplice IT services, using them to their full potential thanks to the optical fibre connection.

In Bergamo, the plans to cover the entire city are already at an advanced stage and are expected to reach over 50,000 households by the end of 2013, thanks to the 111 km of optical fibre cables being laid to connect 265 road side cabinets to the respective exchanges.

The commercial launch of optical fibre services in Bergamo, based on FTTCab (Fiber to the Cabinet) technology, is the result of major investments made by Telecom Italia to install the new NGAN (Next Generation Access Network) in the city, confirming the company's desire to implement an increasingly modern infrastructure offering new and technologically evolved services that fulfil the requirements of households and businesses.

In addition to Bergamo, the cities covered by this phase of the service include Milan, Monza, Brescia, Como, Varese, Venice, Verona, Vicenza, Padua, Bologna, Reggio Emilia, Genoa, Florence, Pisa, Prato, Ancona, Bari, Taranto, Palermo, Brindisi and Catanzaro. The number of cities where Telecom Italia's new “Ultra Internet Optical Fibre” offers are now available has therefore risen to 25 from the initial launch in Rome, Turin and Naples.

Solutions for consumer customers are available from 40 Euros per month. Business plans are available from 50 Euros per month - the same price as the commercial solution based on conventional technology - and guarantees maximum performance for the same outlay.
