TIM: accelerates development of lte technology and brings its internet connection up to 300 mbit per second

TIM is the first in Italy to make in-field download connections available on its LTE network with Three Carrier Aggregation

TILab reaches a maximum speed of 450 Mbit per second in its laboratory in Turin

TIM continues to develop LTE technology and is the first in Italy to make the Three Carrier Aggregation solution available on its ultrabroadband network. Thanks to the combining of three available frequency bands - 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz - TIM's LTE network offers a real data transmission download speed of up to 300 Mbit per second, offering particularly fluid and stable Internet browsing.

This newest evolution of Carrier Aggregation, which has been successfully tested at the TILab, is now in-field and can be experimented with prototype terminals, which will be available to TIM customers by the end of the year when the first devices will be marketed.
The research and innovation laboratory of the Telecom Italia group in Turin has reached a speed of 450 Mbit/s, the fastest possible with LTE-Advanced.

TIM has achieved this important milestone thanks to its technology partnership with Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies Inc. (with the Snapdragon™ 810 processor with X10 LTE).

With the introduction of Three Carrier Aggregation technology, TIM continues the 4G innovation process it began a year ago in Turin, where it presented Dual Carrier Aggregation, the first LTE-Advanced functionality introduced into the network, which had a maximum speed of 220 Mbit/s. It was put on the market last autumn, when the first compatible terminals were available.

"With the introduction of Three Carrier Aggregation into our network - said Roberto Opilio, Operations Director of Telecom Italia - the Telecom Italia Group shows once again its ability to innovate and confirm its

leadership in research and development of mobile networks. With LTE-Advanced, we want to make a faster and more reliable infrastructure available to our customers, which will respond to the growing demand for mobile broadband and the use of innovative services and applications. This way, TIM customers can soon navigate the Internet with better performance and higher quality, accessing mobile multimedia content in both Full HD and 4K format."
