TIM continues to develop LTE technology and is the first in Italy to make the Three Carrier Aggregation solution available on its ultrabroadband network. Thanks to the combining of three available frequency bands - 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz - TIM's LTE network offers a real data transmission download speed of up to 300 Mbit per second, offering particularly fluid and stable Internet browsing.
This newest evolution of Carrier Aggregation, which has been successfully tested at the TILab, is now in-field and can be experimented with prototype terminals, which will be available to TIM customers by the end of the year when the first devices will be marketed.
The research and innovation laboratory of the Telecom Italia group in Turin has reached a speed of 450 Mbit/s, the fastest possible with LTE-Advanced.
TIM has achieved this important milestone thanks to its technology partnership with Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies Inc. (with the Snapdragon™ 810 processor with X10 LTE).
With the introduction of Three Carrier Aggregation technology, TIM continues the 4G innovation process it began a year ago in Turin, where it presented Dual Carrier Aggregation, the first LTE-Advanced functionality introduced into the network, which had a maximum speed of 220 Mbit/s. It was put on the market last autumn, when the first compatible terminals were available.
