Olivetti I-Jet, a company of Olivetti spa, as part of the winding up process started in June 2012, has sold its R&D business unit, dedicated to developing technologies in the thermal inkjets field, to SICPA.
SICPA is a Swiss company based in Lausanne with 3000 employees operating throughout the world in the field of the most advanced technologies for security systems, inks – used to print most of the world's banknotes – anti-fraud and anti-counterfeiting systems.
The business unit sold employs 35 researchers who will continue to operate at the Arnad offices in Val d'Aosta.
The transaction will allow SICPA to enrich its expertise thanks to the contribution of specific know-how in digital printing brought by the Olivetti I-Jet business unit.
The sale, which is not subject to any suspensive condition, will take effect from 1 December 2013.
