Together for a better internet

TIM with Operazione Risorgimento Digitale for Safer Internet Day 2021.

02/09/2021 - 12:30 PM

It is possible to make internet a safer place for everyone, especially youngsters, and we must all do our part. That is the message launched by Safer Internet Day, the global day with which the European Union has been promoting safer, more responsible use of the web and new technologies since 2004, this year on February 9.

In TIM we undertake to make sure everyone can live the infinite possibilities offered by what’s digital, to communicate, feel closer, study, work and enjoy themselves; we are certain that doing so with awareness is a must. We work to build a sustainable digital future, the engine for the development of society and economy. We do this by offering our customers safe and quality solutions and services, and we collaborate with frontline institutions, such as the Postal Police, and with innovation leaders. It is in this context that Operazione Risorgimento Digitale fits, the project we created and launched in November 2019 together with over 40 partners from the world of institutions, companies and civil society, which aims to accelerate the spread of digital skills among Italians. We also collaborate with Telefono Azzurro, one of the organisations that spearheads the Safer Internet Center-Generazioni Connesse, the project, led by the Ministry for Education, in which we have been involved for several years now.

A training talk show, a social media sensitisation campaign and new webinars

For Safer Internet Day 2021, and then for the following “Internet Safety Month”, Operazione Risorgimento Digitale will dedicate many of its activities to those subjects.

Starting on 9 February at 6.00 p.m. with “Genitori in rete, consigli per figli social”, a live event answering the important, urgent need to support parents and teachers accompanying youngsters on how to use internet.

The training talk show, conducted by Riccardo Luna and streamed on Repubblica.it and on the TIM Group YouTube page, involves major sector players and important guests discussing their experience.

Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Samsung Electronics Italia, Tik Tok and Fondazione Mondo Digitale will explain what solutions should be adopted for safe use of smartphones and internet.

Event guests are:

  • Nunzia Ciardi, director of the Postal and Communications Police Service
  • Guido Scorza, member of the Data Protection Authority
  • Ernesto Caffo, chairman of Telefono Azzurro
  • Ernesto Belisario, lawyer and expert in technology law
  • Maura Manca, psychologist and psychotherapist for children and youngsters
  • Rosy Russo, founder and chairman of Parole O_Stili
  • Simone Cosimi, journalist and author
  • Gigi De Palo, national chairman of the Forum of Family Associations.
  • Elena Hazinah, young tiktoker with millions of followers

Starting from the talk show contributions, video clips will be created for a sensitisation campaign to be circulated by Operazione Risorgimento Digitale on social media for the entire month.

From 9 February to 9 March, the “Scuola di internet per tutti” programme, the Operazione Risorgimento Digitale format dedicated to bringing the population closer to digital tools, will be enriched by further content on online safety, with useful information for parents, grandparents and teachers who want to protect youngsters from the risks of internet.

Lastly, the start of a new cycle of webinars dedicated to safe, aware use of internet, in collaboration with Consumers Associations.
